ABOUT Hurghada

Hurghada is a recognized tourist center of the Red Sea coast, which is located 500 kilometers southeast of Cairo. The uniqueness and charm of this resort is primarily in its diversity: beaches, promenades, malls, oriental bazars as well as colorful Red Sea reef. The city is the administrative center of one of the 26 Egyptian provinces – the Red Sea Province.

LOCATION

The central part of Hurghada is a bustling area where you can find many shopping centers, discos, bars, pubs and  chaotic street bazars. Hurghada is divided into 3 districts:

  • The old district is called “Dahar” (Downtown)
  • The new area is called “Saqala” (Sheraton Road)
  • The tourist’s Promenade is “El-Mamsha”

Next to Hurghada there are other popular Red Sea resorts:

  • 22 km north of Hurghada – the resort of El Gouna
  • 25 km from the southern tip of Hurghada to the south – the new popular resort “Gulf of Makadi and Soma bay”
  •  45 km south – resort and port of Safaga.

  • Hurghada is famous for its gentle beaches of fine and clean sand which is ideal for holidays. It is here that not only the coast is covered with sand, but also the bottom of the sea. However, in the northern part of Hurghada, as in most of the resorts of the Sinai Peninsula, the beaches are coral.
  • For family and beach holidays, the Egyptian resort of Hurghada is a great option. There are many entertainment centers and children’s attractions.
  • Hurghada is home to North Africa’s largest Duty-Free store, AKA DUTY FREE.
  • Hurghada has the best diving centers, where fans of this sport can rent scuba gear and enjoy the beautiful underwater views. For active guests, there are diving, windsurfing, banana rides and boat trips available.
  • Thanks to the dry climate in Hurghada, the heat is easier to bear, only in August the highest temperature, the air warms up to 35 degrees, and the sea – up to 28.
